About Me / Sobre Mí
English
I am Marcelo Rivera González, a bilingual meteorologist and science communicator. My work focuses on clear, useful, and responsible weather information for communities across the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, Puerto Rico, and audiences interested in tropical meteorology.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations, and a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. I am currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Geography, Climate Science, and Geospatial Science.
Before becoming a meteorologist, I worked for nearly a decade in higher education administration, serving as a University Registrar for universities in Puerto Rico and Texas. That experience shaped how I communicate today: with service, clarity, education, and community impact at the center.
I later worked as a meteorologist and climate change reporter for NBCUniversal in California. Today, I serve as a meteorologist for NBC23 and CBS4 in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, where I continue my mission of helping people understand the weather and make informed decisions before, during, and after impactful weather events.
